I used to do that as well. Every single one of my friends and former co-workers that were flying corporate with me 10 years ago are now flying 121. Why? Pay, time off, retirement. Most importantly, we don’t want to have to worry about looking for a new job every few years.

After age 60 it is really hard to stay interested in exercize, nutrition etc. Your bones hurt, you are invisible to women, drinking sucks. That is where the catch is, if you let go, you are on your way out. Resist at all cost, the expandible belt.

Higher socio-economic level people usually do.

Maybe because you have money, more likely because people disciplined enough to reach higher socio-economic levels are also disciplined enough to take better care of themselves.

Indeed, the flaw in many studies, polls, and surveys is that the sample being observed is not truly representative of the population at large. Sometimes this is actually known to the researcher, but it helps in obtaining their desired result.

No problems with the pension since I have other assets. Surprisingly though, my taxes have increased but that is because I have been moving regular IRA funds to my Roth IRA. As most of you know at 70 1/2 you have to take IRA distributions annually. That is the age I plan to start take SS Benefits so the taxes on both of those will hit hard. Any monies you can get in Roth IRA's now will help later.

Yeah I'm very happy about the decision to leave early. 35 years of flying freight was enough.

Well, if you have an A Plan you never run out of money because you get a big check every month until you die.
