Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the new hires from the big three. All of a sudden, we are people's number one.

Believe me...FedEx was #1 for a lot (probably not all) of those people already. This situation just reaffirmed the decision in our minds. We are just waiting for the phone call.

But aren’t these guys getting called now have been in the pool since last year? So in reality they left when the future looked better than ever at their previous jobs.

Most guys in our interview group also had interviews elsewhere. They took the offer somewhere else, and now they're taking the offer from FedEx.
It was a smart move to not burn the purple bridge

It's pretty obvious that based on the last interviews and pool timing that pilots being hired now have had that iron in the fire since mid-2019 at best, if not longer.

I understand that. My point was if FedEx called this month and the pax airlines looked like they did 3 months ago would they still leave? The pax airlines were that shiny new car, like they have been in the past, and FedEx was just pushing slowly along. As a guy who left the major pax world I hope this is a lesson for many in the future.

Over the last couple years I have had many friends who wanted FedEx get hired at other majors and then pull their app from FedEx. They kept saying “Im at the front of a huge hiring wave in the pax industry”. I warned them that the economy would once again correct and history would be on display again. They then retorted with you are crazy and Amazon will hurt freight and single pilot will take over freight. I said ok and wished them well. They are now blowing my phone up and I am trying to help but they are behind a huge pool of guys/gals and come October the application stack will be overflowing.

My sentiments exactly. Kept trying to tell my buddies this is the best job in the industry, to no avail. Now they're back. Looking forward to all the new guys getting onboard.

I’m a poolie desperately waiting for some concrete news/announcements. Any updates to the training letters showing new hire slots for the 75/76 in MEM? How often do those get updated or published?

Yes, it is on a whole different pay and quality of life scale, as compared to my previous major job and I tried to explain that. I literally make double at FedEx compared to what I made at previous major. FedEx tends to not have the huge bust factor that the pax airlines do during tough economic times. Fell on deaf ears because the shine was to bright from that beautiful new car type hypnotism. The problem now is that with 150is in the pool to clear out it will be mid 2021 for them to get a class date. I honestly feel terrible for them and more than anything their families who are about to take some major pain. I think of how good they could have had it if just they listened and learned form history.
