Isn't it incredibly funny how the biggest complainers find the first distraction or excuse to not hold the line. Always a logical reason in their mind for doing extra or not making any sacrifices. But yet they expect the moon from everyone else and the union. We are seeing it play out currently. Just watch OT in all the fleets.

Curious, does OT go out primarily to the senior folks and the junior pilots might get lucky and nab it once in awhile or is there any limit? Or is there a rotation based on amount of hours accrued or just No limit period and let the scraps fall where they may? Just curious…

OT is open to everyone regardless. We have varying priorities on how our OT is processed though.

To each their own. You do realize there are at least 5 flights and at least 3 different type aircraft leave LAX to MEM every morning and night right? You aren't taking a seat away from anyone. Now ATL, or DEN I'd agree with you.

I used to think that if we all took the scheduled deadheads, the company would have to start fixing the deviation fares, etc, yeah, that would show them. Then after some major weather events and Covid partially shutting down the pax carriers, I saw the ease at which they slid many of us onto company jumpseats, and realized that en masse taking company jumpseats wouldn’t do jack after a day or two, they’d love to put as many as possible into company jumpseats.

Makes sense like most if not all places, but I guess to put it simply: Hypothetically you have 10, 20, 50, 100 whatever you like (High Priority/Highest Payout) OT trips available to the masses for the month or however you choose. Does the upper 10%, 20%, 50% take most if not all and the rest (Low Priority/Low Payout) if any falls to the bottom masses?

OR, is there a limit such as once you have reached 130hrs, 150hrs, 180hrs, whatever payable hours = then your name falls to the bottom of the stack in order to gain any OT again. If it’s waaay more complicated besides being equipment based; never-mind, those arriving at your doorstep will be assimilated at indoc anyway. Appreciate your time.

*Athough “the thought of another minute on property.” from a recent post above. Ouch.

Senority does not apply to open time. First request gets the trip. Limfac can be hours available in a, pilots make up bank, but if company accepting volunteers there's no limit and it's again first request gets the trip. We do have preferred hours that can be used if your request isn't first but none of it is seniority driven.

Open time is basically first come first serve after OT opens. We do have some priority trump cards but they are few and far between. We also have premium pay trips (150%) that are assigned through AVA (request submitted up to 7 days prior) or draft (usually day of or day prior) to cover trip. Extensions past 2ish days pay 200%, plus other soft pay kickers. Many beg for these extensions due to big pay.

Unlike many airlines you can drop to 0 hours or credit 300. Anything is possible. No holds bar. My previous legacy gig had mins you could not drop below. Other legacies have mins and maxs. Many also force you to fly x amount or all your straight pay prior to any premium pay. At FDX you could drop/conflict all your regular trips and only do all premium. 300 credit hours is achievable for those willing to hustle and many did it for the last 2 years.
