I’ll need to find the quote but a couple years ago I remember Fred saying he had one last big goal to achieve before retiring. If it’s not a merger with another major company to compete with Amazon then I think it’s to merge Express and Ground into one lean corporation with better system efficiency. But what do I know, I just fly planes.

The second item was at my door by 8am the next morning. Don’t know how that order made AMZ any profit?
Easy. AWS.

They announced that in early 2020, Ground will be delivering many Express packages especially those sent to homes.

UPS is a trucking business. FedEx is an airline.
Well, not exactly. There's revenue and then there's profit. In FY21, Ground's revenue was $30,486M and Express's was $42.078M. Ground's margin was 10.5% and Express was 6.5%. The profit for Ground was $3,193M and Express was $2,810. The problem is Express's yields are decreasing whereas Ground's yields are increasing.

These numbers come directly from the FedEx investors FY21 PDF document on the website. Ground has been kicking it for a while now.

It's already happening for some 2 Day and Express Saver pieces depending on where it originates and it's destination.

I know he said that he wanted to make e-commerce (b2c) successful before he retires.

Ground is the source for most of our mis-deliveries and screw ups. That business model sucks for the customer but is good for stockholders. I see and met the local ground delivery owner. Hard hard way to make a living.

Companies years ago put shareholders before customers. I agree with you. I met a route owner years ago. Said he made $100,000 per year on his one route. After all the expenses he had operating the business and the route, his take home was $30,000. I agree again, hard way to make a living.

Default Amazon to Rival FDX/UPS Largest Delivery Serv

Amazon is now shipping 72% of their own packages. In early 2022 they expect to rival UPS. Amazon is already delivering more parcels than FedEx Corporation.
