you might be one of the few people that the bus is right for. I’d go for the bus. Seniority movement is still great on that beast and second year wide-body pay is noticeably different.

I’d agree with this. If you are gonna live in base the Airbus really is a good choice. The majority of the CAs I fly with live locally. There is actually quite a bit of day flying and you should not have a problem grabbing O&Bs from open time.

Just to add another data point, looking at the current seniority summary, the airbus currently has the most junior WB captains. Not sure if that’s the norm.

Thanks for the replies and the data. Is anyone able to take a peak at the bid awards and see how junior the airbus O&Bs typically go? It’d be greatly appreciated.

In June, there were 3 O&B lines that went to 2021 hires. Most junior has been here just over a year. All 3 were PM departures.

Just keep in mind....it's great and all to get an idea of what fleet does what....

BUT, if the last four of your SSN starts with a 5 or below, I would plan on not getting your first couple choices.

FWIW....

I know you’re right. Even if I get lucky and am #1 with my 97## it’s still no guarantee that what I’m interested in will be available.

To tag on to the thread:

A buddy is awaiting an interview. His last 4 of ssn start with the dreaded zero.

He just got a new baby, and is trying to avoid the 11 in ANC. If he ends up getting it, can he defer his class date and try his luck with another base/aircraft assignment?

Also, if assigned the 11, what is the stipulation for the seat lock on the widebody for newhires?

He cannot defer class. He will be able to transfer to MEM or LAX on the next bid though, which is rumored to be a happening in 6 or so months. So he probably wouldn’t have to spend much time in ANC.
