With everyone else hiring and our contract looking less and less stellar I don’t know that I’d put money on this outlook. If we’re gonna truly get to 8,000 pilots we’re gonna need some big CBA improvements and/or cast a wider net to fill those seats. Personally, I’d love to see some of these Aussies join us.

I would much rather see every American citizen get a job before any Aussie is hired to FedEx, ups, delta, American, or united. As an aside, I’m new to FedEx, FedEx has publicly stated they want a pilot group of 8000?

7000 is the number that’s been more commonly circulated.

I highly doubt they have the thousands of qualified applicants wanting to work at FedEx that they had 18 months ago. Most have already been scooped up. Requirements will certainly be relaxed soon.

Just a personal observation as someone holding out on leaving for a major to get 500 PIC for FedEx. Most people, FOs and Captains I fly with, don’t have any interest in applying to FedEx let alone UPS. Multiple people hired at UA,DL,AA with 0 PIC and people going to NK,F9,B6 with less than 2 years on property at a regional. All of these people cannot apply at FedEx or UPS. Nor do they want to wait for 500 or 1000 121 PIC. Delta now over FedEx maybe later 99.9% go to delta. Only people who have wanted to be a FedEx pilot wait it out. Family, legacy, Memphis etc… This is just my experience so it means absolutely nothing. But it’s food for thought.

Yeah we'll see. Oil prices and a weak economy aren't good for FedEx either.

Hahah to each their own, and many are still misinformed about being a pilot at FedEx. Further, they haven't been paying attention to who was successful and growing during the 08-09 downturn and 20-21 COVID downturn.

I was furloughed because of the first downturn, and vowed to position myself at the best possible company for that to never happen again.

Exactly why I am jumping ship from Delta, start BI tomorrow. I don’t think I’m the only one jumping from a legacy to FedEx either.

Well, I wouldn't call the use of 4.A.2.b "successful and growing," but it would beat a furlough if you were on the bottom.
