I’d like to see our contract reflect the time you are phone liable as a work (duty) day. At least because the FAA sees it as a duty day. But like you said, maybe next time. It would be less confusing if the calendar reflected when you are on duty on an R day like it does for any other duty period that ever shows up on the calendar.

So what I’m understanding is that in a typical month with 15 R-24 days that if it’s split into 3 blocks of 5 days of RSV that you’re really on call 18 days since you have to be available to respond 24 hours prior to day 1. No one on reserve should have to check their schedules prior to beginning their reserve block.

Still recommend answering the phone if it rings after Midnight if on RA

Contactable and duty are two different things. No different than RA or RB. You are on duty 15 days.

This is bad advice and doesn’t align with the contract or the Whitlow Letter. Call CE and find out.

None of which is germane to the actual question about R24, since by definition, every R24 pilot will have a legal rest as well as a 1/7 prior to the initial reserve assignment.

Our Union has numerous articles discussing various Scheduling issues.
Among them is a discussion of Reserve and The Whitlow letter. There are pros, and cons, to acknowledging an assignment early if on RA or RB.
Not sure if this link will actually work, but if not, just login and go the Scheduling Committee and all of the articles will be available for perusal.

My comment was a technique to make sure your one in seven clock doesn't move, by acknowledging an assignment early before starting a reserve stretch. I just realized I forgot to add that part. My apologies.
