Of course the draft *****s will want retro pay. They want that higher pay rate for all the flying they've been doing since the amendable date.

So you are willing to take less, to keep the draft folks from benefitting? Kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Can you point me to the document that shows we are in self help?

Where did I state either of those? Hopefully you read the TA better than you do posts on a web forum.

The difference (to pilots) is semantics. To the company, it could mean huge tax consequences. That is why companies prefer a signing bonus.

It is the amount that matters, not the name. Companies benefit by delay tactics, no matter the end game.

Can you explain and give a source for the tax implications of retro versus bonus?

yeah, it’s income. Go view IRS regulations regarding compensation and you will have your source document.

Huh?

Try Sarbanes-Oxley or SOX and the restatement of earnings quagmire. No company will willingly restate earnings unless they have to.

The answer was about why bonuses over retro in regards to tax implications

You insinuate that the draft "hoorse" are doing something wrong. If we are not in self help, they are legally following the contract. The union even said so in one of its missives.

I am in favor of everyone getting retro pay, as the amount would more likely be larger than a signing bonus, for both those flying extra and those electing not to fly extra.

More pay is more pay, so why are people against it? Jealousy?

Other airlines get it, why can't we?

Reward that type of behavior and you can expect even more of it next time around. That will further incentivize the company to run lean and to drag their feet in negotiations.

If we want more of that, we should keep doing what we're doing.
