Tony, Tony, TONY!!!!!!!! Don't fall for the new "noise". Wes wouldn't give 2 cents about this position if he could stay at National whereas Tony has been fighting the fight at grassroots level for YEARS!

Who said he was only getting paid by ALPA for EVP meetings. If you are in LEC 22, you would know that he said he has been in every meeting regarding negotiations as well as other meetings. Take a look at his calendar and see how much he flies the line. Look at his monthly bid award and what he actually does. It might open your eyes.
That’s a good point. Didn’t know he was in other positions as well. Presumably he doesn’t need the rep position to continue in those positions…and getting FPL for it.

Not my LEC and I've had disagreements with Tony on here before but I honestly think this shady politics crap needs to be put down. Vote for Tony and show we won't put up with that crap as a pilot group. If your block rep is on that letter I would suggest you voice your opinionto them, I have.

And as Cutler said above, he didn't have the backing of the 9 current MEC members that endorsed him for block 2 to vote for him to continue as EVP so I think you can definitely say they did not think he did a good job as EVP (Secord has never done EVP before so it's really a referendum on Wes at that point). Seems pretty clear. They don't value Wes - they just don't want tony.

No decent rep would ever promise support to someone before a vote. Who knows who will actually end up running? Are you saying that MEC reps believed that Wes would have been better but had already "promised" their vote and decided to go with the less qualified person to represent them at National? Really? And you think that is all right on any level?

Integrity
But since you mentioned it, let's talk about the MEC and integrity for a second. In their endorsement letter, they said, "We’ll need his experience as we plan and execute multiple events to maintain our unity ..."
They apparently did not need his experience enough to keep them from endorsing him in his campaign for a national officer position. They didn't have to endorse him.
They apparently did not need his experience enough to re-elect him as EVP. I don't know how any of the nine voted, but I do know that he could have been elected by only 8.
But now they suddenly need him?
I think the politically correct word is disingenuous.
Anybody who has participated in or observed ALPA national officer elections (and the ensuing EVP elections) knows that all bets (and promises, and commitments, and pacts) are off after the first round of voting. That's when the wheeling and dealing begins, and people with thin skin can get their feelings hurt. I have nothing against the EVP they elected either, but don't pretend their hands were tied. Remember, they "need" Wes.
