How long had Delta been in mediation prior to a Strike vote?
How long was Delta in negotiations in total prior to Strike vote?
How long was Delta in negotiations prior to starting an education campaign on the use of a Strike vote?
Once you answer those questions you will then build a timeline and see that if we took a strike vote during peak we would be well ahead of Delta. Reading council comms last week it appears that next step is being prepared. Well ahead of when other airlines used it including Alaska and Delta.
The more relevant question is how many issues were open when Delta entered mediation, and how many remained open when they took a strike authorization vote. There is no comparison to our situation where we entered EXPEDITED Mediation with issues that could be counted on one hand. There's only so many times we can schedule more meetings to talk about retirement and pay rates before we have to do something different.
So, go listen to the podcast and come back and tell us what you disagree with.

Content is an interesting choice of words TonyC.
If we have a TA by next year, then yes I will be Content. Even if it takes til Peak, as 13 months from now will still be about 7 or 8 months earlier than I was guestimating pre-S6 openers.
You are certainly a knowledgeable guru. Can you tell me of a single other instance where a Crewforce took a strike vote prior to the 1 year anniversary of their contract amendable date? Or even scheduled a strike vote immediately after entering Mediation?
And we keep saying targeted negotiations. Well, the sections we opened were: 3-Compensation; 5-Traveling Expenses (to include Hotels for Newhires-something that seemingly everyone is unaware of as they castigate us old guys for not making things better for future FedEx pilots); 8-Deadheading; 12-Hours of Service; 21-System board of Adjustment; 25-Scheduling; 28-Retirement. Management opened: 1-Scope; 4 Minimum Guarantees and other pay provisions; 7-Vacation; 26-General.
Couple of other sections I wish we'd opened, but I guess the majority of my peers didn't feel the need to suggest improvements to those sections when the Web Survey was open.
IMO-our NC should be able to determine whether our Mediated Sessions are making progress toward a TA or not over the next few weeks. And if not, then yes, begin the process to take a strike vote. RLA flow chart, amongst other things, is readily available on our Website. Far too many FedEx Pilots seem to want to be spoon fed versus taking the Responsibility to actually Read anything-including reading our current Contract.
Here's something that will have an even bigger impact than taking a Strike Vote....an increasing percentage of people choosing to protect min days off and using their vacation. Seems like there's always a minority of people who say they're waiting for ALPA to tell them to do so. Just not realizing that ALPA Can't say that until\if we are released by the Mediator for self-help

TonyC,
Reading many of your posts and the posts of other regular APC posters made me think of the below story on spreading rumors. Please read it. Understand the underlying lessons. Especially because it appears you have and soon will do volunteer union work. Thanks for volunteering.
Here's why you should not GOSSIP.
In Ancient Greece, Socrates had a great reputation of wisdom. One day, someone came to find the great philosopher and said to him:
- Do you know what I just heard about your friend?
- A moment, replied Socrates. Before you tell me, I would like to test you the three sieves.
- The three sieves?
- Yes, continued Socrates. Before telling anything about the others, it's good to take the time to filter what you mean. I call it the test of the three sieves. The first sieve is the TRUTH. Have you checked if what you're going to tell me is true?
- No, I just heard it.
- Very good! So, you don't know if it's true. We continue with the second sieve, that of KINDNESS. What you want to tell me about my friend, is it good?
- Oh, no! On the contrary.
- So, questioned Socrates, you want to tell me bad things about him and you're not even sure they're true? Maybe you can still pass the test of the third sieve, that of UTILITY. Is it useful that I know what you're going to tell me about this friend?
- No, really.
- So, concluded Socrates, what you were going to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor useful. Why, then, did you want to tell me this?
"Gossip is a bad thing. In the beginning it may seem enjoyable and fun, but in the end, it fills our hearts with bitterness and poisons us, too!"

Draft tracking data? They can track who was called and what order they were called in?
How can you tell who they are?
What about post S6 openers? You guesstimated that long despite the relatively small amount of items in the our openers? There were only like 20 total individual items.
All the union comms say now is the time.

FedEx pilots just get to sit in the dark.

At Delta any pilot can track who was called for draft (they call it a green sleep) and call foul if the call was out of order. A foul call against the company will get the pilot who called foul paid for the trip at greenslip pay (200%, they don't mess around) and any other pilot who was skipped will also get paid.
FedEx pilots just get to sit in the dark.

Saying we sit in the dark isn’t exactly factual. I do agree a more efficient system for verification would be nice. How do you think most pilots would react to having a pay code published for ALL to see? Do you think most pilots would like that? I would be in favor.
