Ohhh, are your feelings hurt?
Did you guys or did you guys not agree to two contract extensions to your 2016 contract?
Wasn't the main reason given for each extension that UPS wouldn't negotiate a new contract for pilots until the teamster contract was done?
Isn't it true that if you adjusted your top 2020 pay rate for inflation, it would be $385? Isn't your current top rate $361?
So tell us again why we should listen to you?
Yes, these are public forums. It's just sad to see that some UPS pilots have nothing else going on in their life so they troll the Fedex forums.

That makes no sense at all. Let me use some of the anti-ALPA pilots’ logic. Part 117 requires more pilots. More pilots equals more pilot payroll (the only reason why Fdx and ups are against it), more pilot payroll equals more dues income. Dues income is the reason for ALPA’s existence. Of course ALPA didn’t cave. They didn’t have ALL airline pilots speaking as one. Pilot unions are fractured into five other entities.
CAPA? I haven’t heard of them since USAPA disappeared. Are they still around? I think I can count on one three fingers the amount of times a non-ALPA pilot testified in congress. And two of those were captain sully, who is an ALPA supporter, by the way. So maybe not a free lunch but it’s definitely a deeply discounted lunch.

FYI - The only “anti-alpa” people at IPA are by and large former alpa people. The rest of us have no anti alpa sentiment. In house is simply a better fit for our situation.
We know you Fx guys look down on us IPA folk as dirty cargo dogs, but we ain’t your enemy fellas.

Guess you missed all the years IPA was in Washington fighting against the 117 cutout, alone, just for one example. OTW, you can’t possibly expect a group of 3K to match the lobbying effort of what, 60K alpa members. Thank you guys for contributing significant efforts to make the industry safer for everyone, not just alpa pilots.

I believe that the anti-ALPA sentiment comes from the misconception that national dictates local issues. National cannot force local mec to do anything. ALPA national simply deals with national issue. Each mec decides what to negotiate and how to deal with day to day dealings with management. Most of the success and struggles at each airline have more to do with the health of the company, the broader economy, and or whether current management decides to have a working or hostile relationship. So when things are not great at the airline, national gets blamed for not doing enough. Not much national can do about broader economic conditions or hostile management.

USER NOTICE
During its May 2022 meeting, ALPA's Executive Board voted to discontinue the ALPA Message Boards. Effective July 1, 2022, the ALPA Message Boards have been shut down.
They weren't used very much.

If I remember correctly, each pilot group had one. This was years ago at a different airline but it was scarcely used by anyone. Died on its own. ALPA feels it’s too much liability anyway (if it ever caught on) so they finally killed it.

Nah, at this point I’m frankly not willing to start over again and put myself at the bottom of a list that has now hired 50% of their pilots in the past 8 years. I’ll still retire well under 5% at FedEx even if we stay this size forever.
I’ve hitched my cart to this horse and will
concentrate on trying to make it better for all of us that are here now and anyone who joins in the future.

Yeah, I did change my mind. I did not go to Delta but I did leave for a different legacy.
When I made that comment last December I was not imagining the extent to which the company and union were going to let us down with the TA that was presented in the Spring. I also didn’t think our schedules would degrade to the point they have, or that FedEx would bring in one-of-if-not-the-most anti-labor executives in the aeronautical industry as our CFO. Maybe I was being naive, but I just didn’t think it would get to the point that it has. I updated my logbook and filled out my new app the day that TA was published.
It was not part of the plan and it was a big decision. I worked with a lot of great people at FDX and I wish everyone the best. Hope TA 2 knocks it out of the park and everyone gets what they deserve.
