If you are Senior enough to hold day trips and they get cancelled. You have absolutely 0 obligation to accept a SUB Assignment that is anything other than Day.

Only jumping in because SUB rules are misunderstood by so many. Please read Kronan’s words carefully. He is correct. If your initial trip was “Day Flying”, you have absolutely zero obligation to accept a SUB assignment that is anything other than “Day flying”. A non-day flying trip would NOT fit the assignment parameters. This is precisely why your SUB Inquiry, Other Attributes section, will show Yes/No for “Day Time Flying”.

Scheduling may offer you non-day time flying trips, but you don’t have to accept them AND you don’t have to decline sub in order to reject such trips. You can politely decline and remain in SUB until they find a trip that meets Day flying parameters

  1. Daytime Flying Assignment

A pilot eligible for substitution based on a trip in which more than half of the revenue duty periods begin in the day period may be offered any legal substitution assignment; however, if such pilot is offered a trip in which more than half of the revenue duty periods begin outside the day period, he may refuse such trip without loss of trip guarantee .
