We have the most effed up jumpseating rules in the industry. Why the f* does a mechanic/goc employee get the same priority as a pilot in the jumpseat? How can they book as business BP4? They are staging at most to commute to work. Multiple times I’ve been denied a jumpseat cause a mechanic is commuting to work! The jumpseat is for pilots period. What the f* is our union doing agreeing to this BS! Jumpseats should be pilots only and based on seniority, seniority, seniority like very other airline!

Alot of jumpseats are taken by guys jumpseating in lieu of a dead head. Lots of guys live where there scheduled deadheads end and begin. They deviate and bank the money and then guys who dont have the JS have to go offline. Use your deadheads.

Heck even if they’re trying to save the bank to go on vacation with that money, more power to em.
Some of ya’ll are too hell bent on being the jumpseat police. Stop. Stay in your lane.

Agree with you 318, always happy to take any jumper. Whether he's saving deviation bank or not, I could care less. Specially since our offline jumpseating isn't protected in our CBA.
What seems like one small item in the CBA (commuters know it's a major item), is a clear example of how far behind we lag in QOL compared to other carriers.
To the OP, our line pilots should always be first in line to the j/s with the 21 days right?, then mechanics can only list closer in to the flight? not sure -who btw I am always happy to have onboard.
And no, it should not be based on seniority. As someone said, ask a United dude about seniority-based jumpseating. I think they can bump up until the door closes. It really sucks.

I beg to differ! I have absolutely no issue with other employee groups JumpSeating. Now if you want to claim that pilots has priority on the actual Flight Deck JumpSeat then I may be inclined to agree with you. As far as seats in the back, if other employees book before you, then they should get priority.
