Can't see a new airframe coming in this environment of cost cutting. And RS just said they are not investing any more money in the aviation sector.

Is there a breakdown showing which sector makes the greatest profit? Just curious.

Yes. Go to the Fedex investor relations website and find the quarterly stat book. Has it all in easy to read numbers.

Well, no. Pilots are required equipment that are not deferrable.

Seems like a pretty bad idea to me. Rapid decompression, smoke/fumes, fire in the cabin, etc. can all get very hectic very quickly. What if you have to ditch? Even in seemingly the least threatening scenario - out over the water in the middle of nowhere - it’s still safest to have two pilots at the controls.

It seems silly to you because you’re a pilot; I highly doubt it sounds silly to a bean counter, who is more than willing to take write off the loss of a hull and a couple of button pushing pilots to save millions. To him you’re just a part of the basic operating weight.

It’s a plane full of boxes! Who cares? How long did Tom Hanks and Wilson spend on that island?

Reporting code isn’t all that stringent on this matter due to the cohesion within the Corp and sub entities operating within the umbrella of the Corp. Many wealthy individuals “don’t make money” on paper. Corps can do similar. This is why many have large market caps and stock valuations even if they “don’t make any money”.
My biggest fear has been the possibility of FedEx Corp “bankrupting” the Express division, gutting the company of legacy employees and our contract.

Since they’re combining the three companies, is that scenario still possible?

Interesting suggestion. Do the pilots work for Fedex Express or Fedex Corp? Is Express a division or an entirely different company under the Fedex Corp umbrella?
