Default carrying FEDEX freight on other cargo airline

Just wondering what your contract says abiout this..
There is a cargo airline that is carrying FEDEX freight from HNL to SEA.
I would think your conttract would prevent that kind of stuff...

Honolulu isn't in the U.S., silly! Only intra-domestic freight is protected at FedEx.

Seriously though, our contract defines the U.S. as the lower 48 states for scope purposes. I'm afraid those Aloha flights are perfectly legal.

Serious question from a UPS guy. Are you saying a flight from the US to Hawaii has no protection as to who operates the flight per your CBA?

Unfortunately, yes. Our Scope section sucks. We are trying to fix it.

It'll never be fixed unfortunately. The entire business has been based on our current scope, and just like some of our non starters, scope is FDX non starter. Yes, they will give us pennies to the dollar and our "union" will sell it as a win. The pilots who came before us never thought our flying would be cut up and given to the lowest bidder, but it is happening. Purple tails being repainted and flying our cargo cans is FACT.

HNL SAN belly is going on other airlines. Which purple tails that FedEx still owns got repainted? Or is it a plane that was sold and repainted. Big difference.

but…it’s the way the FedEx business model works….do you want to disrupt how FedEx finds new markets??! if demand gets high enough purple pilots will fly it, don’t worry!!!

Historically, have you guys flown that freight? Is this a recent change, or something that was typical in the Fred Smith era?

Make business sense to me to fly a 757 inter island with loads of an ATR or 737. Maybe we need to buy 737's for Europe and Hawaii markets to better fit our loads.
We would fly an MD11 HNL Hilo during the week on a flower run. Don't know if we still have those contracts or who flies it.

why doesn't delta fly more wide bodies or why do they code share most of their international flying.
