And I can trade up my schedule, but I choose not to!

I looked at living in domicile and we could not find or make the set up (land, community, proximity to family, schools, etc) that would work for us! I've always bid for lifestyle and not BLG, so I have no qualms about my number of days at home or my number of days at work. What works for us, may not work for you or RT. If the costs out weigh the bennies, FOR US, we would reconsider, but right now, they don't!
And in 9 yrs, 7 months and 24 days when I have my 25 yrs (or 11yr 1 month 9 days to 60) I won't be moving. I'll already be in my retirement home!

In the past 4 months you've sat around MEM 26days and that's on first fly. Now I'm counting standby periods as days in MEM if you didn't fly. If you were not on first fly that 26 might be 40 days you could have had with your family living close to domicile. That's almost 25% of your your life in 4 months sitting in MEM and includes vacation(almost a month off) and FF. Next month you have another 15 RA days. Stay off FF and see what happens. We can play a lot of golf and get paid to do it.
Summer is almost here, keep and eye on my schedule the next few months and come down and visit when you are in town. My girls would love to see you.
Now if I could just find an Irish Pub in Manhattan?

Come on and get off my back. I said you had a good deal and never got on you. I'm not the focus. Just said no place is perfect and I said Memphis is far from great or even good. But with my kids 5 & 7 I want all the time I can get. Gosh you are so into my schedule it's scary. My flt summary says 162 hours in the past six months (I know a killer pace) Of course the Rtrip I'm on now will add about 30 hours to that.

You are correct, I would have been home if my home were here in MEM, but we chose for it NOT to be in MEM! So quit trying to sell it to me All OTHER things considered, FOR US, its best where we live and I commute. You choose to lie in domicile and bid reserve for days off while on the clock and pick up extra on your "days off". I just choose to have my days off be my days off and my days at work my days at work. I bet you I was home within 10-15 days of the number of days you were home calendar yr '09 (go ahead and compare, I already did )! Only away from home about 1 day per month more than you is worth the sacrifice for our lifestyle!
caveat - I rarely pick up trips on my days off, I max out my VAC by bidding reserve and extending, and I had a few trips on my VTOs with deadheads that allowed me to delay my commute or spend time at the beach with my girls (Jun '09).
Of course your W2 is larger than mine!

It is what you make it.
I lived in MS for thirty years before moving to Indy. I traveled to Memphis everyday for work, for shopping, entertainment, Beale St, river area. I've never had a problem. My motto is don't go where you don't belong, and be aware of your surroundings. There are worse places.
