- The aircraft are still around - All of the current engineers (under 65) have a spot out in the last bid - The just advertised for new flex instructors - There are only about 10 incoming over 65 engineers in the next 10 months All 727 crews are MEM based. |

Are you given choice of base or are you told where you will be based?
The senior guy in the class gets 1st choice of what is available. Last guy gets last choice. The choices may be very limited. Odds are foriegn domicle will be available to anyone who wants it. Having recently attended some training let me add, 727 training is still miserable (lets punish the new guy) and 757 is like six weeks in disneyland (it is the happiest place on earth). Might have something to do with the remote training in collierville. Or it might have something to do wwith the flexes all being junior and not being required to work weekends. Or it might be something to do with being a brand new program. |

The few that didn't, were offered MEM 727 FO. No 727 SO seats have been offered since the April class. |

Since the June class most of the people coming into Indoc have already had their base/aircraft assignments already: ANC MD-11, CGN 757, or HKG Bus.
The few that didn't, were offered MEM 727 FO. No 727 SO seats have been offered since the April class. The 727 FOs who will complete IOE in the next 2 months should remedy that. I don't see anymore 727 SO classes until after peak...and late 2011/early 2012 new hires may very well be offered MEM based MD-11 or A300 or 757 FO slots before another batch of 727 SOs are hired. As always, YMMV. |
I don't think the 727 is short anywhere. The bid pack average tells that story.
Some 727 FOs are finally upgrading. Various training letters tell that story. That is why newhire FOs are needed. Current SOs not so much. Many are brand new or just sitting tight. |
Noticed a few people have posted that they were hired in June/July, but haven't started class yet. Would this suggest that there is a pool for after peak? I wonder how many are in that situation and how close CGN and HKG are to being filled. Sponsor has told me that there are less than 10 (?) on the seniority list in CGN.

Re-opening of the application window?
Does anyone have information on when the application window will re-open? Thanks in advance!

They already have 4,000 "updated/current" applications on file to choose from. We've hired 126 this year (about half "internal hires" from Corporate/Pro Instructors and "2007 Poolies"...and the next 60 or so were "off the street" pilots, who were identified, tested & interviewed under the new process). Chief Pilot is "authorized" to hire 390 more over the next 21 months, but the economy and retirments will ultimately determine the actual need. 20 a month is still an "approx" rate of hiring with slow downs over peak. 1 more PASS board for this calendar year to identify some more interview candidates. Bringing in 12 more 727/SOs this December. I don't see any more clarity on # of new hires, or which seats they will be assigned, until after the New Year....and after the next Vacancy Bid --- spring of 2012? |
Thanks DLax85,
I missed the window by two days while awaiting an ATP check. It's tough to plan one’s life around FRED's (C-5) need to break in Rota, Spain. Good luck to all out there trying to get in on this good deal. |
