You are right that it's the Captains jet. But one that requires an F/O too. Who, in my case wouldn't work in unacceptable environmental conditions in the cockpit.

You can either start the APU, hook up the huffer or get a new F/O.

There is not one IPA Captain that I ever flew with that had a problem with the F/O starting the APU upon arrival at the jet. In fact, most would jokingly say that you better have the jet hot/cold when they get back from their walkaround.

As for the coffee, I have no problem making someone coffee that asks for it and is genuinely not expecting it to be done for them because they are the Captain and he is ordering me to make it. You can KMA in that regards.

It's no wonder why you guys have the reputation of being just as arrogant as Delta pilots are.

And for the threat of taking my legs away.... Go ahead. I get paid the same to talk as to fly.

I'm sure that your intent is not to come across as arrogant, but if it is your intent maybe not starting the Apu for you is the way to go.

Yes, CA does the walkaround at Brown.

And no line Captain is going to blink if the FO cranks the APU during cockpit prep; hell few managers would. Cranking it after landing without asking is another story...

If you don't like it here, you can always go back to UPS.

I am sure many would agree that we don't want your attitude in the cockpit.

As a captain, I wouldn't fly with a pilot calling himself "Aryan."

There's your pair.

Okay, that's amusing. That's completely opposite of us, purely because of whom does what in our sequence. The first officer does the walkaround, and since the Captain is in the cockpit doing the preflight far earlier than the FO, they would be the one to crank the APU. And except for a rare incident, if the Captain noticed an FO uncomfortable with the temperature, particularly if they said something, of course they would start the APU up. Most FO's probably wouldn't just start the APU without mentioning it to the captain.

But after landing, the FO will start up the APU without mentioning it during his after landing flow if it is going to be required at the gate. Funny how you are making an assumption that we do things exactly the same as your company does.

I had no idea that FedEx pilots had a reputation of being arrogant. Hopefully you're the only one with that perception. We have a few, but for the most part, I think our pilots are an awesome group to work with.

I don't think he is a FedEx pilot, but apparently at UPS. Thankfully.

*I* am not assuming anything.

Clearly there not only are different SOPs between Purple and Brown, but different corporate and operational cultures as well. One isn't "wrong" and one isn't "right" - simply different.
