Is the new VP an internal or brought in from the outside?

He came from SWA...but it doesn't look like he is acting like a USAF CC. He isn't coming in guns a blazing to make his mark. From what I've seen and heard, he's taking input and sitting back and figuring out where we need to improve. Cautiously optimistic...but, when you go from PC to anyone is has get better...right?!

Has anyone heard of anyone been hired at FedEx who hasn't been previous military or hasn't had any Turbine PIC?

Not previous military-- a ton.

No PIC turbine. I know of not one.

"Smallest" plane I know of is several B-1900 guys have been hired here. The one that pops into my brain was a check airman at his company.

Not saying he/she isn't here without PIC turbine, but I haven't met that person yet. My gut says that was removed from requirement so if the right candidate came along they could grab them. By right candidate, I suspect that means someone type rated on the MD11, 767, or 757, and more than likely willing to go to an FDA. This is all 100% conjecture.

A new hire could probably give you a better break down of class statistics...

The folks getting hired here after the PIC requirement dropped look a lot like the ones hired before it was to me--very qualified, high time pilots who would be competitive at any company hiring. Military guys are IP/EP qual'd, and a lot of the other guys are either check airmen or 767/757 type rated.

I'm sorry if I missed it but does anybody know what the current competitive flight times are on people interviewing? Thanks

Plenty of guys hired with turboprop time only before the PIC jet requirement and the hoffman debacle. Interesting I reciently heard from a very reliable source that the many of the superhuman 10 s spit out by the hoffman super computer are not making past the SBI part of the interview. Give me solid 7s military or civilian with a good attitude, personality and flying skills that are happy to be here and you would be happy to fly around the world with.

I sure hope not, as he's got no experience flying night freight, international, or any of our airplanes...

I "heard" bad things about him coming in, since then some good, but I don't give much credit to rumors.
