The union nodded and winked then, just like they are now.
There were no seats to go back to for age 65, it required an excess bid to get them where the union and the company wanted them to go. If they had not done any excess bids, and had just done "normal" bids, that would have been more fair. The "bump and flush" was definitely not fair.
Right now, every 757 FO on the property is being denied the right to bid for wide body seats. Meanwhile, the company fills those same seats with new hires. What happened to the union's strong defense of the seniority system? The union should fight this tooth and nail. Every 757 FO should be getting passover pay even if one new hire is given a wide body right seat.
If the Union doesn't fix this, and immediately, the 757 FO's should be able to sue the union for failure to represent.
ALPA talks a good game, but doesn't always deliver.

Since they were not training before you off the same bid or a later bid, passover does not apply. Maybe if the union takes the stand that you are being denied a chance to bid for that seat, you might have a chance. But we seem to lose all these.

While it would be wonderful if the company would simply hand hiring\training over to our Union---just not going to happen.
It is very hard for me to imagine any arbitrator supporting the companies contention that Passover Pay isn't applicable to a 57 FO awaiting 67 training because it's simply a topoff training. Even harder for me to figure out why mgt is complicating the consolidation training when they could have the newhires simply be 57 FOs and topoff current 57 FOs w/ the 67 stamp.
That being said,
it is my understanding that the authority to hire additional pilots results in a bid. In the case of our current hiring that bid was 16-01, last April which showed a shortfall of 396 FOs.
So, pretty much every FO on property had the opportunity to bid to be MD11 FOs, Airbus FOs, 67 FOs, 777 FOs. And for pretty much every FO except for 57 FOs awaiting 67 FO training, passover pay is being paid.
Things that don't trigger passover Pay.
Holding a 67 Capt seat in Memphis when someone Junior to you activates in Indy.
Holding a MD11 FO seat in Memphis when someone Junior to you activates in Anchorage (or LA)

Quick question
Got a question- Pilot Credentials "references" section says, in bold, "Only FedEx references should be listed below". Is it acceptable to list a retired FedEx pilot, and if so, how is this reflected? The application asks for an employee number and has a drop down for employer, "retired" is not an option.

Hey Guys,
Got the interview invite his morning, super psyched, can't wat..... Already enrolled in ECIC and got every reference book out in my library.
Can you recommend a test prep location to make sure my brain is on speed for the test.
Thanks
