Any new hires within the past 12 months have any Kalitta Air pilots in their class? FedEx is where I want to end up.

Ever get any more information on this? This is the route I'm planning on taking. I spoke with a recruiter today and after a year of service you can apply to transfer to positions you're qualified for and you'll be considered before an outside hire. I'd like to speak with someone who's done it but that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Is that still a thing? Can someone take a part time position in some capacity and use that to get an internal track to an interview? Also, does anyone know if past employment as a driver can provide any benefit in being selected to interview (assuming the pilot has competitive quals)?

Default 1000Hr Mark

Is the 1000 hrs PIC time before or after the sortie conversion? In the aircraft type section on pilot credentials it adds in the .2 conversion, but below that in the "Aircraft Category Subtotals" section it does not include the conversion.

I'm right on the bubble and my sortie conversion is about 150hrs. I don't want to get out of the Air Force too soon and it would be really nice to know which one they use. In the end it would only take a few more months to make up that difference, but every month counts!

From what I know, back in the day, getting the interview meant the job was yours to lose, so throwing boxes was the best way to get the interview. But now, with the interview being more of an HR event, getting the interview "prematurely" if they wouldn't have called you otherwise, could possibly hurt you. But that's purely speculation on my part.

Back in the day, you also had to wait 18 months before you could transfer from box-thrower to any other position. Not sure if that's dropped down to 12 months now or not. I'm out of the loop.

How is the interview an HR event if all you do is talk to pilots?

Gotta make it through the HR machine to even get to talk to the pilots, no?

Not claiming to be an expert or to know the answer(s), just trying to answer the question from what I've been told to prepare for, and to reignite the conversation since I am interested in finding out the real info as well.

In your opinion, should someone with 1000TPIC quit their job and go toss boxes for FedEx to bypass the HR computer and get the interview?

Straight from the chief pilot. Upping hiring to 59 a month for August and September. Up from 40 per month. Keep those apps updated!

Absolutely not. Currency in qualifying equipment is paramount for your application profile. If someone is at 1000TPIC I would advise them to start studying and update after every trip.

Does this mean that someone interviewing in August will have a better chance at being hired, or will they be interviewing more candidates?
