If you are military, get rid of military jargon! No paragraphs describing each job. For example, list "F-18 Instructor Pilot". No need to describe all the ins and outs of what an F18 Instructor Pilot does. We know, we don't care. Nobody does. If you are USAF, get rid of any USAF OPR language. Except for official military titles (Commander, NATOPS Pilot, Standards & Evaluations Pilot, STAN/EVAL PILOT etc.etc.), word everything civilian language. Ditch the combat hours/sorties, combat support hours/sorties etc.etc. Do list major awards only.

Use the civilian example on this website. http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/downloads/downloadFile/1/civilianresume.doc Notice the Summary of Qualifications section. Your resume should read exactly what qualifications are listed on the airline's website.

If you are a heavy USAF pilot, make sure you play up items such as "Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Material Training" "CRM/TEM Training" and any special equipment like "Rockwell Collins Electronic Flight Instrument System trained" or "Flight Management System 800" blah blah blah. You are applying to be a pilot. Don't put forth a resume which sounds more like a resume for management or something other than a pilot.

Get your resume professionally reviewed. You can PM me if you have any additional questions.

This is correct. There is no class "the Monday after Thanksgiving."

As far as numbers, 12 MD-11s for sure. Gonna guess 24 of everything else. We should find out the week after Thanksgiving, though it could be the week of.

Hey guys, very thankful for all the useful info on this thread. I know FDX is going to have a good run of monthly hiring for the next year at least, but I haven't seen the quals on what kind of apps are getting pulled lately. Does anyone have an idea of what a good candidate looks like these days? Just curious if I'm qualified or not and willing to hear any advice on how to get there. I'll go ahead and pay it forward and thanks for the info.

I was just curious how the 11 pilots were selected.
I'm extremely happy with my assigned aircraft (Nov 7 class).
Congrats! AFAIK the selection process is up to the HR folks. I was originally told Boeing/Bus class but KD called me later and said my background made me a good fit for the 11. Primarily it seems F18, C17 and recently KC135 folks are getting the nod and folks with previous 11 time. That being said there was a guy in my class who also had 10 (can't remember if it was DC or KC) time who wasn't picked either. There'll probably be another bid in the spring...I'm not sure if you'll be locked in your current equipment or not but if you want to come to the 11 I'd suggest putting in for it.

Cheers,

Gas

Here are a few questions about the questionnaire portion of the application that I've been trying to find, and haven't. Maybe someone can chime in:

#22 Have you ever been a Check Airman?... I provide equipment training and initial and recurrent checkrides in a Part 91 flight organization, but my title is "Instructor Pilot." Should I check "YES"?

Same question... I was a Flight Commander and ADO in UPT squadron and performed multiple progress checks on students who busted checkrides. Should I check "YES" or is that a stretch?

#30 Line Check Airman?... Is this strictly Part 135/121? Or based on my experience above in Part 91, do I qualify. I give checkrides that include Equipment Competency, IPC, and Line Check on the form. Again, my title though is "Instructor Pilot."

#34 Director of Operations?... Is ADO a stretch if I check yes, but explain it underneath as an Assistant Operations Officer?

#35 Duty Officer?... When I read this, I thought of SOC, SUP, or SOF from my military experience. The pilot who sits around and makes sure everything runs smoothly with that days operations either in the squadron or in the tower. Does this sound right, or is there a civilian definition I am missing?

Any help would be appreciated, especially from those who have been in similar Part 91 or Mil backgrounds. What did you do on these questions? Did you get called? Did it come up in the interview?

Thanks.

I disagree. If you were an instructor and gave check rides, you were the equivalent of a check airman. If you were an evaluator and gave check rides to other instructors, you were definitely the equivalent to an LCA. If you gave squadron evaluations and check rides, you were equivalent to Chief Pilot/Fleet Captain. I checked the boxes and wasn't questioned given.

Not sure if this could be related to the training dates for 757/767 changing dramatically during last few days? Just an uneducated guess as to the possible cause...
