Also to add to this, are regional FO's getting picked up at all? I see the 1,000 hrs of PIC is just preferred. Curious as to what commuting to Mem would be like from small areas. I have FAR and FSD near by there is also MSP as well but a longer drive.

There are 1 or 2 flights a day from both cities to MEM. Usually the flights are direct but once or twice during the week the flights have a stop enroute. The commute is painless.

Thanks! I'm guessing MEM is pretty attainable right out of training? what are the trips like? a lot of out and back locals, 2, 3, 4+ day trips?

That is the question asked tens, if not hundreds of times here.
The truest answer is that data of that nature is not released by the company, possibly any company. Most of the data here will be either personal experience summaries or a mini-compilation of classes from someone in the class.
That being said, FedEx is hiring like gangbusters this year. If there is something that is preferred and you are somewhat close, put in the application anyway. Probably not a great idea to "what if" and waste time. You will be entered into the system and called when your qualifications meet the requirement of the day or month...
Most new hires will be in MEM, doing 2-3 legs a night, many with nighttime hub turns. Right now, 757s are the new hire plane, but depending on manning needs, such as our expansion of flying in Europe (many unfilled FO seat in the foreseeable future...), all planes and domiciles with the possible exception of ANC & LAX MD-11s (senior bases...) are possible.
Hope we can limit the "what are FedEx hiring qualifications" for a while now.
