FedEx Hiring
#2811
5 Feb class was 20. I'm not sure if there's another due to start this month. It doesn't seem like there has been a truly regular pattern. I believe the most classes we've had per month is two in the last few years. Forecast is for 450 new hires in 2018. I'd say they better do at least 2 classes of 15-20 per month if they're going to have a shot to make that target.

What they got awarded on day one of indoc and what they can hold on 18-01 are two completely different things. Back up a page and you'll see I mentioned every single person in that class could hold 767 or 777 on the latest practice bid. However, they'll all still spend quite a while in the right seat of the 757 even if they bid off tomorrow based on the training throughput.

Hey everyone! I'm a newcomer to this thread, but am looking for a few opinions, as Fedex is my dream carrier(disregard the username, I was in High School).. Anyways, I am starting in the new Ameriflight Cadet program, in which they pay for all of my training, if I guarantee 3 years with them afterwards. Including the hours instructing (1200), this would get me around 3400hrs of Total flight time, with 2200hrs of guaranteed Multi-Turbine PIC time in the 1900. My question is, do you know of any guys that go right to Fedex after 135 turboprop flying? Or would I more than likely have to go somewhere else, such as Atlas, to get some actual turbofan time? It's worth noting that the Cadet program also has flow-through agreements with Frontier, Allegiant, and Omni to get some turbofan time if needed, but I prefer cargo flying personally.

I would personally believe that the Heavy International time (Omni or Atlas) would be far more valuable than Airbus time at Allegiant or Frontier.

Many have come from Turboprop operations like Great Lakes, but I’d say that they are few and far between. Definitely not the norm and those individuals were likely very well connected.

Atlas has been a stepping stone for many to FedEx, and may continue to be for a while. However, IF they ever get their contract stuff settled and make some decent gains, and IF this Amazon Prime thing continues to grow, what was a stepping stone could turn into a career destination.
Some there say it will take new management before that happens, and they are closer to the fight than I am. What I do tell folks is going to Atlas is NEVER a bad move for a step up, but it might morph into something better on the way. Lots of good folks have come from there, and I love crossing paths the crews on the road. Hope they get those improvements...
