FedEx Hiring
#64
Delta is hiring 115 in December. FedEx is rumored to hired about 200…all year.
FedEx wants to implement PBS and take your pension away. Delta just paid a profit sharing to not only union pilots but the entire workforce. Delta pay rates will eclipse ours soon. Richard Anderson is a leader. Our flight management has managed to alienate even the most pro-company kook-aid drinker...
So…its good we are hiring. But its 2014, not 2002. I know where I would go if I had the option in 2014…

Many of us don't have an option though and that's the tough part of this biz. I will go to the place that calls me first. I'm a regular run of the mill guy with 1000+ TPIC, Check Airman, Sim Instructor, Duty Officer, non female, non military. I haven't been lucky enough to get a call from anyone yet and whoever calls is where I'll be. So at that point, do you stay somewhere and get some seniority under your belt or do you keep looking into the shiny crystal ball hoping you get a call from the place that was "the place to be" 4 years ago? This is a funny business

After 15+ years on property and WB Captain, I continue to question my decision to fly for FDX.
Initially, it was good the first few years. Steadily the QOL has declined and morale taken a nosedive. Kind of like a bad marriage for some.
The ineptitude of flight management leadership and lack of stones in union leadership (SS) have left a majority disillusioned. UPS and FDX lead the industry in profitability. No pax carrier even comes close in recent years.
Yet, we are faced with a negotiation process (approaching 4 years) looking for concessions in the big ticket areas - scheduling, work rules, compensation, retirement, etc. FDX has NEVER ONCE had a losing quarter since my employement began. Yet the second class citizen treatment and sky is falling mentality continues.
Extremely disappointed in my choice of carrier.
Go PAX and don't look back.

As a wide body Captain at FedEx, I'm sure you won't get a lot of sympathy from about 90% of the rest of the aviation industry. I mean, seriously, are you that removed from the real world. As many of the UPS guys say, just fly your flights, enjoy your time off with your family and friends, and watch your bank account continue to grow. If it's that bad, you can always leave, or, you could jump in and run for an elected office within the union, to help steer the crew force in the right direction. Your choice. Or you can continue to complain. Again, your choice.
