It's also possible to get six Powerball numbers. If you live anywhere good you won't ever be senior enough to hold it because that guy will die on that line. If you live somewhere $hitty, somebody will bid it because it has a double DH. Get hired, commute for a bit, then bid for and move to a domicile and enjoy your life. If you spend your life waiting for trips to your hometown you will be disappointed.

Yes it is possible, a guy hired this year could be sitting 50% 757 FO in 2 years. What I would choose would greatly depend on circumstances, if I were 30 Delta is probably a better bet. If I were 50 and living in Grand Forks or you don't mind living in the Memphis area FDX would certainly be worth a look.

I think it would be hitting the Powerball to land this job! Good info here. That is great to know about the potential QOL as a 757 FO. Thanks everyone for chiming in!

It is a very qualified recommendation. The schedules here are good if you are at the top and really suck at the bottom. Working from home can help a lot but you will give up money to do it.

That pretty much sums up schedules in a seniority based system.

If you dont think our lines are more seniority biased then elsewhere you are nuts. One of the reasons I thought we were fighting PBS. And no I don't think a guy can work 8 days a month and fly out of his hometown at Delta as easily as you can here.

Is there any preference given to kids of retired pilots anymore or has that gone away with the points system?

I don't know what the official policy is (or if there even is one?) but over the years I've flown with several legacy pilots.

One of then talked about having flown on the same flight with BOTH her father and her brother ... I kind of liked that. The rumor mill says we hired the VP of Flight Ops daughter?

I would have loved to have flown with my (General Aviation pilot) dad.

Actually both she and her husband work at FDX. If you know their last name, it's hardly rumor mill material.

Ok, is anyone actually getting called for interviews off the street yet? I mean, this massive bid comes out requiring 500 guys but I have not seen or heard of a single pilot getting a class date besides dudes that have been in the pool for over two years. So, how do they expect to fill all the vacancies at the bottom of all the seat specific seniority lists? I think it's a farce. 500 in two years! Right!

Someone post something to this thread if you are actually getting any traction at FedEx for an interview AND you came off the street.
