Maybe I need to restate what I meant. Are there any guys that didn't need to agree to go to HK and weren't previous internals that have interviews lined up and anticipate being in a July or later class? I know June is filled with guys that passed on foreign slots and internals.

Have interviews ramped up at FedEx finally? It just seems like they are draining the pool and taking the 10 guys going to HK and nothing else.

FCIF says they may hire up to 500...

I have no idea how many they will hire. But if they stopped at 10 that would not technically be wrong.

With training two years away for some on the bid and negotiations going on, I am starting to think this bid is deliberately optimistic. The machinery does not yet seem to be spinning up for huge hiring. Maybe it will after the bid, and I hope it does. They will certainly need to hire some for retirements. However, I am not too warm and fuzzy there will be 500 new hires by July 2017. Hope I get to eat crow on that one...

We were never in the pool. When I was called by FedEx I was asked if I would go to a FDA. I was then told what my class date, base and airframe would be if I was hired. None of us were internals and all of us agreed to goto HK.

All good that they are hiring...but I've heard similar numbers. Seems like a trickle. Classes of 8 or 12 won't put 500 on the property in 2 years....

My guess is as good as the next person's as to how many we actually hire, but why would they hire much more than a trickle before this bid closes? While I highly doubt that they can avoid all Passover with a bid this big and backlogs on the 756, it seems like newhires are fairly obvious low hanging fruit with respect to Passover. So they wait until after the bid to see how things are looking in the most likely new hire seats in the 777, MD and Bus. Even if 500 is in fact the number, to me it represents a need over time not training throughput which will be affected by a number of variables.

Well, trying to understand mgt's philosophy....think they think that since they hired ME when I wanted a Job that means WE should be working twice as hard as WE do.

For MYSELF, I find myself working harder than I ever did in the past and WE are looking forward to my next Vacay

Exactly Albie. I'm sorry, but this bid and these claims of hiring seem completely unrealistic. I tested with six others and that was happening every Monday and Wednesday. It's NOT happening now. 500? Right.

The time it takes to do testing, interview, background checks, indoc, training, and IOE puts dudes and dudettes to the end of the summer if they started the process tomorrow. Then a mediocre TA comes out causing a mass exodus to the door from the fence sitting 62 year old guys. But we aren't interviewing more than a trickle. Smart.

News flash - The 260 cap isn't going anywhere if the company is trying to divest themselves of their pension obligations all together. So you mind as well all leave now to beat the rush when the TA comes!

Conceptually, the interview and testing stuff isn't a big deal and I don't believe the background checks have to be done until you finish training per the Feds which is part of why offers at all airlines are conditional. Most are done well before that point. Its not an insurmountable challenge, especially when it looks like they'll have small numbers of 11, bus and 777 FO's to train before new hires if the want to avoid Passover pay, but I agree that they're not jumping on it the way they should especially in this environment. Oh well, it will sort itself out.
