Retirement letter to FDX MEC

You say Grapefruit, I say Grapefruit w/Vodka
But back to the convo,
So to write
;-)
A Plan changes, Company reportedly intransigent about modifying the cap. Not an uncommon issue for F500 companies over the past 15-20 years.
But, why on Earth would our goal be so low?
If we’re diehard on improving the A plan versus modifying how the benefits are calculated, then the least we should be shooting for is the IRS cap
Not looking it up, but thinking the cap is in the 420k range
Pretty sure TonyC has that info at hand, not worth searching without the big screen for me

Agreed. Tony said it perfectly a few weeks back. The original intent of the A-Plan was to replace 50% of your high-5 income. THAT is the goal. With the other industry players offering massive Profit Sharing IN ADDITION to higher Direct Contributions, we can get over our guilt complex about making too big of an ask. It’s been an eighteen year stagnation. That’s long enough.

Mods: This is a 2014 thread which can easily be taken out of context given the changing information regarding the Defined Benefit discussion currently underway. I think it might be time to kill this thread, if not, it might be good to caveat the thread title with a disclaimer.
Just my 2cents

This thread is VERY important and FedEx pilots are smart people.
They can read, they can research, they can analyze, they can think critically.
They can compare relevant parts of past articles & posts and apply the appropriate portions (and arguments) to today’s situations
There’s no reason to delete the thread or the link to the letter.
Transparency is a good thing!
Examining ALL of our options and understanding the real pros and cons of each is extremely valuable
Over 13,000 views on this thread clearly demonstrates people are actively actively reading, thinking and sharing.
Mods: Please don’t delete. Rather thanks for your service in helping pilots on this board gather and share information, and express opinions. It’s a very valuable service which should NOT be stifled in any way.
