Default Every Bid an Excess Bid

The way I understand it.....

In reading the TA Section 24, Filling of Vacancies, they have merged vacancy bids and excess bids into a System Bid. This bid will comprise of bid awards ( vacancy awards) and assignments ( involuntary movement to other seats-- similar to excess).
Each bid will allow the company to determine manning in each seat (can be fluid) and through the process explained in Sec 24 -- enable the company to "balance" staffing levels. While it's not an ad hoc "bump and flush" it will allow the company to move people out of their seats more easily.

Basically the way I see it --- we just gave the company the power to PCS us !!!!!! ( for those not in military -- permanent change of station--- military telling you where and when to move)

They cant force you into an FDA and they cant force you to move to your base. They can move you to a different seat if someone senior wants yours. Being Junior sucks, try to avoid it.

Correct. Can't force into FDA. But to a non-FDA base---they can't force you to move there, but then you'll have to commute. This new section is just has a potential to result in a huge degradation in QOL over what we have now--

You may be correct, I believe it is an industry standard. As long as MEM is the largest 757 base it shouldnt be a problem. There should be adequate volunteers to go WB in the other domestic bases.

Yes. True. I guess what worries a lot of us --- with the new sect 24 is how the company can take the new procedures and EXPLOIT it by reading between the lines (due to their recent history of doing that, 4a2b, A-380 pay etc)!! Then the result will be to make life hell for us until we can fix it again!

And you can't fix it for about a decade if the company exploits!

Default Nervous

I'd be nervous about this with the shrinking of the Airbus/MD-10 fleet.

With the old system the company would just put a -1 on all of the categories and domiciles. If your seniority couldn't hold a seat, you lost it.

No change.
