FedEx questions

While I haven't looked at the training letter--my wag is that the less than a year Bid Award will wind up being a 3sh year FO tenure prior to upgrading to Capt.
Have heard a couple of grumbles that "they" shouldn't have been able to bid for Capt until X years so they'd be "experienced." My typical response is that I didn't think we hired anyone who hadn't been a Capt somewhere else....
I, personally, wouldn't have bid for Capt at year 1. The $$ will be nice, but it's going to mean RA for a long, long time. And right now, unless you're military, there's virtually no flexibility to adjust your reserve schedule on the 75\76. And even worse, as a commuter RA might mean a commute in Sunday morning for your Monday midnight call window = unpaid time in Memphis. And 15 days of Reserve, compared to 10-13sh days of flying certainly takes the $$ per day away from home a bit lower

Question on the Pilot Credentials site/application: There are two boxes under "Aeronautical Ratings": "Total Years of IFR (Instrument Rating) Experience" and "Total Hours of IFR (Instrument Rating) Experience". Are they asking for Actual Instrument hours, or just total hours since you became instrument rated? Thanks!

Where are the secondary major sort hubs? I heard Oakland was one of them... Dallas as well? I would think there are a lot of deadheads to these hubs. Are they a good for option to commute to or live in if MEM isn't on your dream list of places to live?

IND, EWR, AFW, and OAK. There are some DHs to those hubs, but I would bet the majority of domestic DHs are to non hub out stations. our trips tend to start in GRR or RDU and the like. If you want to live in ATL or JAX or ORF you will be competing with a lot of other FDX pilots for the DHs and the jump seats.
