Quote: Just keep checking that application page. As long as it says still processing, you're in the hunt. Good luck. I hired on June 21st into the Phenom. Haven't see the plane yet.

They say by mid September probably.
Great! Thanks!

Is that due to Sim availability?? At least your still getting paid....

Quote: If it makes you feel better, I have several 'Nom FO buddies that are already on the line and they're getting a TON of reserve at residence days on the first 1-3 days of their rotations. I think right now they're prioritizing all the captain upgrades and getting those guys fully qual'd. Enjoy sitting at home while it lasts!
That’s happening because it’s a slower time of the year. The busiest time of the year is coming around in a few weeks.

Quote: Yeah, I'm going through the background check right now, and have experienced the same stuff - I finally called them and got 90% of it cleared up. I'd just do that . . . seemed to really help. I told them, I will get them what I can. But yes, very, very annoying! And like most folks, I have gone through several background checks in my career and never had these types of "questions".
I’ve been sent the background paperwork. TenYears?! I’ve had alot of flying and non-flying jobs years 5-10 going back, and they seem to want affidavits for any periods of unemployment as well. There’s little chance I’m going to be able to supply all this information to a T.
Is this going to be an insane headache? Almost makes me want to accept other offers. I’m supposed to start indoc within two weeks. Any insights? Thanks.

It's annoying, and it's a pain for a week or so while they're working it, but hindsight it's not the end of the world. FWIW I think EVERYONE in my indoc class of 14 had a hang-up of some sort. They were "unable to verify my employment" at the flight school I instructed at, and it turns out they called them at 9pm on a Friday, obviously no one answered, so they marked it down as unable to verify employment. They were also unable to verify my start date at my previous employer after requesting a paystub and W2 (neither of which had a start date on it) until I called them and gave them a number to call, and an exact time-frame window of when to call it, ie. normal business hours. All this was happening while also holding a security clearance with the DoD, which I thought was ridiculous. That said, the hiring team knows their 3rd party background check service can be a pain and is understanding if you have hang-ups over small things that shouldn't even be an issue.

A 10 year timeframe is standard. Hopefully you're not interested in applying somewhere like FedEx that requires your *entire* work history without gaps. Best advice I can give is compile your work / address histories and information once and save it as a document to reference for future applications.

Also if you're discouraged by needing to provide a 10 year history because it's inconvenient Flex may not be a good fit for you culturally. You're going to be expected to do a LOT here and you're going to work hard all day every day while you're on rotation. If this is a marker that this level of work isn't for you, you should listen to that voice and take another opportunity that may fit your personality and expectations better.

Best of luck, and welcome aboard if you decide it's for you.

Figured I could re-up this thread. Currently, how long is the training footprint and how long do you get off between your Checkride and first day of OE?

Thanks!

1 week for 135 indoc followed by ~3 weeks for aircraft specific training. Wait times vary by fleet, but they're working on reducing the wait time. I've heard of people being paid to sit for 6 weeks or more before OE.

The info below continues to change as training slots are in flux because of the number of new hires coming onboard, so this is just my footprint as an example. Each fleet may also be different as well. I'm on the Challenger and just finished OE in December.

Initial Indoc: 4 Days at HQ's in Cleveland (Tue travel, class Wed to Fri, travel home on Friday night) Covers HR stuff, uniform sizing, badges, iphone issue, CC issue, basic company classes, etc.

Traveled to Dallas on Sunday afternoon.

Basic Indoc: 7 days at CAE in Dallas (Mon to Sun) Part 135/91K focus (only 6 days for the Phenom crews because day 7 was oceanic plotting for the Challenger and Legacy)

*This is where you might get an extended break. I had 14 days off between the end of Indoc and the start of ground school. The Phenom guys had the same 14 day break. Half my class had a 4 week break due to training slot availability. This was actually good, because I was able to study and have my limitations, memory items, and all of my flows memorized for both seats. Highly recommend buying the cockpit poster (Challenger anyway) that is available at PilotMall.com, the ones they gave us were tiny and hard to see.

Ground School: 8 days (Mon Travel, class Tue to Mon) - Location could be Orlando, Dallas, St Louis, or other training location as assigned by fleet. We had one day off between ground and sims.
Sims: 8 days (Wed to Wed) - Five 4-hour sessions plus mock checkride, Checkride, and one LOFT session.
Initial OE: I was able to complete mine during a single 8 day trip and that included one day of reserve at the hotel with no trips assigned. Some of my classmates had two trips to get theirs done because they were shorter in length.

As far as the break after training, you will get a minimum of 7 days off between the completion of LOFT and the start of OE. I had 7 weeks off until I started OE and some of my classmates had closer to 11 weeks off. It was only supposed to be 2-3 weeks, but instructor availability plays into it and we bumped up against Christmas and prime vacation time. Never asked what the issue was, just enjoyed my time off until called. Your paid the same training pay all the way until OE completion, no matter how much time off you have.

As soon as the paperwork hit the crew scheduling desk that I was OE complete, I had my schedule for the rest of December and January posted before I even got back home from OE...lol.

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

Couldnt have asked for a more complete answer than that. Atlas was sending people home after indoc for 4 1/2 months.
