Default ATP Flight school VS Lift Academy?

Hello guys,

I am looking for some advice. I am 21 finishing my bachelors degree in Computer Science. I am trying to pick a flight school to start in September 2020. Which flight school is better? is ATP a part 141?

ATP - 1 hour from my house. 20 regional airline partner.
Lift Academy - will have to move too Indianapolis. 20K cheaper, guaranteed job at Republic Airways after 1500 hours.

want to base in Chicago ORD. What is a good regional?
goal is to work for one of the major airlines. After workin for republic, is it hard to get into majors because it doesn't have any flow program? Please help

Thanks in advance

ATP is part 61, great for flight training however not the best place to work afterward. That being said ATP has a lot of airplanes so mx seemed to never be an issue for me when I went through.

If you want Republic, I would say choose LIFT. I am bias because I’m a current student, but you definitely won’t find a better opportunity for the price. And Indy is a great place to live. PM me if you have any questions about LIFT. Good luck.

Meh, I would go the ATP route leave your options open. There are a lot of opportunities that will be available outside of Republic/Lift by the time you hit ATP mins. Plus by the time you reach ATP mins, who knows what the landscape will be like today's top regionals may not be the top ones in a few years. These things goes in cycles and constantly changes. No need to lock yourself into an airline today when you aren't even going to be in the market for a few years.

My vote from speaking from experience of seeing how things change rapidly from 2014 when I started flight training to 2018 when I started at my regional, to today. Go ATP route.

Why not go to a regular Part 61 school if you have money ready to go?

Default ATP vs Lift

PPahrik15 I'm researching a similar situation. My only hesitation with LIFT academy is that you're locked in to a 5 year commitment with Republic, and the pipeline is moving quicker than that right now. 65k from zero to hero is pretty tough to beat though. Also, the rigor of a 141 vs 61 is subject to personal preference and situations. I'll be flying in the IND area, and am just a tad disappointed it won't be in a DA42.

Just remember that breaking the 5 year commitment only has a penalty of the $20k they are subsidizing. I wouldn’t let that stop me moving to Delta if they came calling with a class date. The commitment isn’t really a dealbreaker.

It’s actually $30k, but I completely agree. Drop in the bucket for Major salaries. Every year you wait is a year at the top pay rate that you miss out on. Far greater than $30k.

Try International Aero Academy in Lakeland Florida, they have 100% financing and $20,000 cheaper than the others. They also have a 135 and their maintenance is a 145 certified repair station
