TSA clearence
Has anyone here been through the TSA security clearence process recently?? I have just received my permanent residence status here in the US and am now wanting to start my flight training.
Im looking into doing a fast paced program incorporating the PPL, IR and MEL all in one however when i read through the rules and regulations etc it says i can only apply for one at a time. Has anyone else done anything similar to what i am wanting to do and had to go through the TSA process if you have can you explain how it went for you? Did reappyling for each additional certificate slow things down at all??
If anyone has been through this and has some answers that would be great.

Well i sent off an email to the TSA help desk and got the reply i was looking for.
I can apply for all three ratings at the same ime so i can get initial approval for all of them right at the start of my training so everything should work out ok.

Be careful with that. There is a disclaimer about not starting your training within so many days of approval. If you are not ready to start your IFR or ME ratings by the expiration of your TSA approval, your application fee is non-refundable and you will have to go through the whole process again.

It is nothing short of a Pain in the_____. Anyways, you need an "approved" instructor to provide the endorsement and when i did it for a german student of mine, it took several months. This was at the initiation of the program, so hopefully it's more streamline now.

Ive sent in the applications and paid the money for all three requests PPL, IR and MEL ( $130 per request), the flight school has approved my applications now i just need to supply the finger prints which the flight school is sending the cards to me and should receive a response within 7 days of the finger prints being done. At that point they should give initial approval to start the training, when i get to the flight school i have to have my photo taken and updated to the file and the final decision is made( i can start training while im waiting for this).
I dont see this being a problem at all, ive been cleared to be a permanent resident of the USA already so my background check should be fine.

After 6 years of no TSA visits, they suddenly "had" to show up this week, just to introduce themselves. Said they're gonna check in with us every so often. I won't hold my breath. From my experience, they seem to have the least amount of organization of any government agency.

i do have to go to the police station to get the prints done, and they themselves send them in when there done, the finger print sheets however are only available from the flight school, which is what they are sending to me
