Good location, I think they have the 79 Seminoles though. Out here in Dallas we have the 2000s and 2005s. If you,d take a suggestion I'd suggest GKY, I've never been out to PHX but I heard the Examiners are ATP haters and will fail you for Anything.... One guy I heard was failed in his Oral for giving too much information about his engines. On another checkride a guy was failed because after completing his before takeoff checklist the examiner sneaked and opened the door and Failed him for not properly going through his checklist. It's not that kind of BS out here. The examiners want to see if you know what you're suppose to know and perform in the airplane. That's just my 2cents!

dude, not trying to be a ***** here, but if he didn't realize his door was open, that's no good. it's on the checklist. you gotta go through every single step and actually confirm, especially when there's a DPE in the right seat. and I can't understand why you would be failed for giving too much info on your engines. that doesn't make sense. there had to of been something else that happened.

At ATP, anything more than the bare minimum is wrong. PTS standards only!

He went through his checklist and the door was closed and locked. While he wasn't looking the examiner opened the door after the checklist was complete.

I think the point might be that doors can pop open and it's the PIC's job to notice it, in spite of completing a checklist. I own a twin Piper and it's pretty easy to think the door is locked when it isn't.

Complaining about DE's is nothing more than rationalizing a failure to make yourself feel better. If you do this at an interview, blame the DE for busting you and not take ownership of the failure, it doesn't put you in a good light.

If you plan to go from PPL to MEI in 90 days, you're not going to be golfing much.
