My only point was that knowing the impact wind is having on groundspeed/ground track, you'll be better equipped to adjust timed turns. As you can tell I'm not a fan of the one size fits all "2 minute" rule.
I agree...on top of that, in a jet, you're going about 3 miles a minute...so two minutes would put you 6 miles from the fix (assuming you hacked your clock on time) and now you have to guarantee your course reversal won't put you over the 10 mile radius (with wind)...for which there's a math formula to figure out that's way too complicated so I just use 1.5 minutes (someone proved it to me with a math problem once, anyone remember the formula?)
