Thanks GFKFLYER I am not disregarding the idea of staying at UND to teach I am just trying to weigh some options. I know that UND MEIs get a fair amount of time and more than a lot of schools but I am just looking at some programs that are similiar to UND in a different area. Thanks for the input I didnt know how much UND actually paid their MEIs and it is good to know the actual amount. Do you know how much they pay for teaching CFI CFII courses?

CFI instructors get $22 an hour and CFII gets $16(I think) as soon an you get your CFII and you can teach any instrument student you then get the 16 an hour.

Hope that helps
Thanks for the help.
If you don't mind me asking, what do instructor's get an hour that teach in the Multi?
How about teaching CFI?
Just wondering. Thanks

It probably goes without saying that you inverted the two, but why would they pay you less for having a more advanced rating?

Nope, he is correct. They put CFIIs that aren't initial CFI qualified with CFII students since you don't need the 400/80% or 200/2years.

You dont get any extra for teaching in the multi, like i may have stated earlier your pay rate is determined by you billable hours (flight time, brief time, and sim time)

0-200hrs $17/hr
200-700hrs $23/hr
700+hrs $29/hr

I got an e-mail from tom grossman:

someone working "full schedule" will usually bill out 500 to 800 hours in a year. The average is around 600-650." Not that great at WMU.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. If you are a really dedicated flight instructor and fly hard, you can bill a lot of hours at western. Today was my last day at western and I do not regret any of my time there. I know the top instructors there were billing 140 a MONTH. So I don't see how it would be very hard to get around 1000 hours in a year. Yeah the flying slows down in the winter, but you can definitely make it up in the summer, because the flying is great.
