I'm thinking about doing the A.S. in pro aeronautics online... s'like $230/hour and I have 20 something hours i can transfer in, plus 18 hours I can get for my ratings, so that leaves me about 20 hours I need to take through ERAU. I think getting a degree (even associates) is the only option for me, regardless as to how much I don't want an aviation degree... I feel like if I don't get a degree in aviation, I wouldn't get one at all.. something is better than nothing I guess...

but as far as all that goes, does anyone know any other schools who will give you credit for your ratings and allow you to get your A.S. online?

Except that if you ever want to get on with the big boys an A.S. is more or less worthless. Every place I know of worth working for wants the 4 year degree unless you are the CEO's kid or something.

yeah i know, but for me its pretty much an A.S. or nothing... I can't even buckle down to get an A.S. in business, which is why I'm interested in getting one in aviation because I think its the only topic that will motivate me enough...

so are you saying to not even spend the money on an A.S. and just have nothing?

I'm saying that if you want to ever fly for a major/legacy carrier that you're gonna need a 4 year degree. Period. If I were you, I'd suck it up and get the B.S. because that is what is required for my career goals. As far as A.S. vs nothing its about 7 one way, half dozen the other.

Totally blows. I started working as a firefighter / EMT out of high school and never really attended classes. Now after 12 years I'm doing a career change, and have to figure out how to get a degree also...
