Default Went Solo Today

Just wanted to share my solo that I went on today. Went over some presolo stuff on the ground with no firm solo date. After some practice landings my instructor jumped out and stood on the taxiway while I took off. I thought they were supposed to have a radio to talk me down.

12.8 hrs before... 13.8 hours after. 2 touch and go's and 1 full stop. It seemed like I was up there for more than an hour.

Also passed my written 2 weeks ago with a 90%.

Flying out of KVDF in Tampa.

If you thought that he or she was supposed to "talk you down" via the radio, you weren't briefed well enough. I used to tell me students that I'd have the hand held radio with me but I wouldn't say anything and didn't expect them to talk to me over the radio.

But congratulations, its an amazing and refreshing feeling isn't it! Best of luck to you!

This is something you'll never forget. The first time you left and had to do it all on your own. I do believe this make you a pilot now, right? First PIC time.

I disagree! The most fun I had was on my long cross country, getting out of the plane over 100 miles away and looking around enjoying the day from somewhere new and knowing that I had used all the skills that I learned to get me there.

Yeah the solo was great, but cruising the highways in the skies solo for the first time going to unfamiliar airports and talking to ATC is even better.

Did you get your shirt cut? Do they still do that anymore? I did it to my students and laughed how sweaty the back of the shirt was due to nerves
