Default FlightSafety Academy

Has anyone gone through this flight school, or does anyone have any information about it, especially any information about cost? Thanks.

It's expensive. If I'm not mistaken it's close to about 73K from zero to MEII. I believe this includes housing, which is located a few hundred yards from the flightline. It's sort of a apartment/dormority style living. Best advice...give'em a call.

I went. Was very pleased with quality of instruction and equipment. My advice is to go tour the campus it will sell its self. I think from zero to CMEL ran about 60k. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

60k...that's a lot. How long did the 0-CMEL take? My dad said that if I wanted to pursue my airline dream that I needed to go to a place like Delta Connection Academy even though I explained to him that I could get the same thing locally for half the price (he said he would bankroll it). I don't really want to go to DCA, and I know that FlightSafety has a very good reputation in the aviation industry. It sounds like you had a good experience. I will be graduating from college in the Spring of 2009 with a non-aviation degree and would probably enroll after that.

I think FSA is way better than DCA, based on what I've heard on the internet for years. If dad wants to pay the way, I guess you can't lose.

My roomate in training worked at FSA and did his training there. Sounded like a good operation as far as the "pilot factories" are concerned. They are owned by Flight Safety, which is a Berkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffett)company although I do believe they are up for sale. Because of the Flight safety connection, they have a reputation to uphold and it sounds like they do this quite well.

Wannabe and everybody else, you can do the same thing these places do at a local FBO for much less. I had two students who worked their tails off and went from zero to CFI in three and four months respectively in the midwest. We met no matter how bad the weather was and if we didn't fly, we were doing ground school. Your ratings don't say where they are from.

I agree with DE...if you want to go to a high-dollar pilot academy, this is the one. Flight Safety has a top-notch reputation in the turbine training world, and they are not going to risk tainting it by running a fly-by-night ab initio school. What this means is that you won't get half-assed training. The flight safety reputation will not really help your job search at the entry-level...those employers only care that you have the ratings and flight time, they don't care where you got it.

But I'd only recommend it if the trust fund will pay for it. If you're on a budget, you can get the ratings for half the price elsewhere.

Actually, they do have that option. AATP I think it is. Have had it for years. I think it's about as top notch as ab-inito can be in the civillian world but I don't think it makes up for the lack of real life experience in your average 250 hour RJ driver.

The FSA CFI track is a seperate path. Expensive, but about as good as it gets. I tell people to look for a good value in cost/quality. While FSA is amongst the best, I don't recommend the place due to the historically high costs. Kind of in that same boat as Riddle.

I was thinking that going to a place with the name recognition and reputation that FlightSafety has may give me a leg up on someone who got their ratings at a local FBO. I know it wouldn't have really mattered in the hiring craze that just went on, but I was thinking it may help when hiring is at normal or below-normal levels. Would that be true?
