I was thinking that going to a place with the name recognition and reputation that FlightSafety has may give me a leg up on someone who got their ratings at a local FBO. I know it wouldn't have really mattered in the hiring craze that just went on, but I was thinking it may help when hiring is at normal or below-normal levels. Would that be true?
Honestly, regional hiring is done by regional pilots. A career path that was spoon-fed courtesy of the trust fund won't impress most of those interviewers...in fact, they might prefer somebody who had to work a little harder for it.

No, not true at all...unless you go to a school whose name starts with the words "United States".

I don't think "name recognition" means much. Employers know it's more about you than which school you went to. You might have a point as far as networking. Bigger school, more grads in the biz, more chance to network. That said, networking can work anywhere, at any flight school.
In any case, I don't think the advantage you might get in networking is anywhere near worth what you'd pay. Don't pick a school on "name recognition" or who has the best website or best marketing. Since your dad is paying for it, go check the place out. Then go check out some other places. Let us know what you think.

I will definitely go check it out. By some weird twist of fate, my dad met a work colleague who has 19 year old at DCA yesterday or today. Now he is all about DCA again...Ugh.

I'd stay away from DCA. Go do a search at Jetcareers.
Does you dad know how to work a computer? Maybe he needs to be reading some of this stuff.

that's what i'm saying...I think my dad is just attracted by the "Delta" in DCA. He is also impressed by the new Cirrus aircraft DCA got. I've done the DCA conference call and was unimpressed. I am left extremely unimpressed after reading all the stuff about DCA on here and on other sites. That place is last on my list.

All "new Cirrus aircraft" means is extra expense that you don't need. You don't need any of that crap for any of your ratings and quite frankly what are you going to do if you end up in a 1900 or one day a DC-9 and you don't know how to scan round dials?
I fly for a carrier that does flying under the Delta banner. The only thing that means is that I'm doing the same damn thing the guys in real delta aircraft are doing for a lot less money.
