Just had dinner with some off the check guys, they told me that CFII is now down to 5 lessons 4th is stage. So with that it is back down to like the 6G range. When I was there it was like 12 lessons or something. They also said the record right now for pvt/inst course is 85hrs. With that and instr./fuel surcharge and ground you are looking at ATLEAST 20K. They told me the Avg is over 100hrs.

I paid for PVT/INS in under 5 months a little under 25k... Commercial price came down because we only get about 20hrs in the Seminole. Commercial is only 30 lessons 15 in a single engine and 15 in the seminole. I have no idea how you spent 75k for only your INS-CFI thats beyond me. Commercial for me is looking like no more than 14-15k. O and 5 lessons for single add on of maybe 2k. I enjoy going there

HAHAHA I was just talking about this a day ago with a buddy of mine and he said he had the record at 85... His name is Kevin but actually I have the record but nobody knows about it, I don't think my instructor knew any different... I went from 0 time to end of course 82.2hrs. I'm half way through CAMEL and I just tipped the scales at 100hrs lol. I would PM you but I think my account is still a noobie account so it won't let me PM yet... Who is your friend??? My instructor is Joey Pann, great guy, alot of fun but I have flow with it feels like everyone there so I might know your friend. But anyways my names Kurt

Here is about what I paied (I was pretty average, no super star)
Pvt = didn't get at DCA
started inst. with 45hrs
inst. = 16K
Com single = 17K
com multi = 13K
CFI = 18K
Ened CFI with a total about 220hrs
CFII = only did ground school and 5 lessons and it costed me 5G
These where my rough est. costs not exact and Im too lazy to add them together to see how lose to 75K but I know I was in that ball park. My opinion on what makes DCA really costly is the groundschools. If you end up under even 70K at DCA that is totally kewl and good for you. I hope it is true for you, don't like to see people with a debt like and greater than mine. Training at DCA I agree is GREAT also, helped me a lot on my interview with ASA. The DCA profiles are much likes the ones at ASA also and that helped me in training. I won't say DCA is not worth it, I just want to push the issue that it does cost a lot.

DCA is now quoting 75K for Private-CFII plus their standard 20% suggested add on. So they are quoting 90K+ before 1 month or rent or 1 Sobiks Sub.

This is not the norm for everyone. Some pay more and some pay less. 31,000 is way too much for these even at DCA. You went through a few months behind me so our costs should be similar...thankfully I did not pay that much.

I don't understand how you guys think it's funny to waste tens of thousands of dollars on training you can easily get elsewhere. Must be nice to have a trust fund. If not, the laughing will stop when you start making payments on that loan.

No one asked you to understand. Go or don't go... can careless. You are trying to start a debate that is as stupid as "who's airline is better" My trust fund was serving 6yrs in the Marine Corps and many other academy guys are prior service also. Don't generalize me to some snobby rich kid. I know what my payments are, $600.00 a month for 20yrs. That is with my college paied off already too. I see you were also in the military, it was my eyes that stopped me from getting a flight slot and going through the PLC program, so I just staied as an enlisted. Consider yourself lucky, sorry we didn't take the "perfect route" as you have. I am sorry if I am taking this the wrong way but I am sick of people just yelling off trust fund right off the bat.

You are off base on this one.

I don't care how you spend your money but perhaps we can let the guys behind you know what's in store when it comes time to pay back 80K with a 30K per year job.
