I graduated from ERAU in 1990. The female-male ration was just as bad then. Although, I met my wife while attending ERAU. She was living and working in Daytona Beach and had gone there for spring break one year and decided to stay. We broke up a year before I graduated.
Just over six years ago, we met up by chance when I was on a layover in Fort Lauderdale where she was then living. We started seeing each other again and we married the following year.

Thanks. But as I pointed out, she wasn't a student at ERAU. She worked at a pizza place that I frequented and that's how we met. Most of my friends had girlfriends that attended other schools and no one in my circle of friends dated girls that went to our school. I'm sure the situation there remains unchanged!
As for me, yes, I was very lucky. By freak chance, we ran into each at a mall I had gone to get someone a birthday present. Since we had broken up, we had both married other people, had kids, and then got divorced. I was actually getting coffee at at Starbuck's and she was in line and right in front of me. When we were both at the sugar and cream station, she looked at me and then said "Tim, is that you?" My quick trip to the mall ended in a nice dinner and the promise that we would see each other again very soon. We did and that ened up in the promise that we would see each other as often as possible which would lead to our engagement and then marriage exactly one year to the date that we ran into each other at Starbuck's.

You could also go down to the beach and find yourself a nice runaway teen. They would love to hook-up with a pilot.
I'm not sure how it happened, but for some reason I always got the hot girls as students when I was a CFI at Riddle. I couldn't explain it. I had lots of "observers" whenever they flew. One of the girls liked to stare at the ground on downwind and would end up hurling on the base turn. She never learned.
Thanks for the memories.

That's too funny. It brings me back to the days.... I lived right behind the school in Daytona Highlands off Tuscawilla. Them girls were smokin'!!

LMFAO. That's fantastic!
I'll tell you what, I met a number of girls when I was working my part time jobs, especially since my job was usually in the mall. I do dread the day I meet my student and it turns out to be a hottie. Gotta keep the professionalism there, although I've seen that break before here.

Oh yeah, the mall. I forgot all about the mall. Overweight white girls with tattoos and belly rings wearing daisy dukes. Git 'er dun!
I was tempted once, but managed to keep it professional. A couple of my other instructor peeps didn't always do so. They loved to talk about how the were going to get some "dual time" on the next flight.
Overall, I had some good times in Daytona, but it certainly isn't what I would call a good place to raise a family. St Augustine and a few other places I could easily live in, but not Daytona.
