I moved down here in August after finishing my master degree. Well around here there are a lot of flight schools from Oceanside all the way down to the boarder. SoCal is very very busy with charter and private airplanes. I've flown into Carlsbad a bunch and they got some sweet looking planes there.

I'm struggling to remember someone who left in August to go to San Diego.

I knew a couple of guys that worked there in 2012 and both couldn't stand it. When I used to fly for AMF I would hang out in Redding Aero and watch some really fat blonde woman bark orders at instructors and students like she was gods gift to the operation. Made me laugh.

Well she's gone, she was just a dispatcher.

The attitudes are much the same though.

I remember kinda hoping she would fall down the stairs as she was barking orders at an instructor like she was the chief pilot.

Any new info or current interview gouge on IASCO redding? I have a phone interview with them. I declined my interview with them from the original post because I took a non-flying job to pay off my flying debt. Thanks in advance!

I don't have an interview gouge that up to date, but I assume it's the same it's always been. If you know your FOI and can apply that to scenario-based questions, you'll be fine on the phone interview with (probably still) Mary Keller. Very, very FOI-conscious instruction is required for this type of work. Not all instructors can work at IASCO. Many have been terminated and many leave on their own.

This is a place that you can go and fly a lot right now, but things change. Some instructors have averaged 20 hours a month for a year in previous years with IASCO. The outlook is generally favorable for a lot of flying this year.

This company is not known for being instructor friendly, just keep that in mind. Take it with a grain of salt though, because most CFIs complain about every flight school. Results vary widely here. Be professional and keep your head down and in your work, get what you need and move on if you choose to work here.
