Is this true anymore? I know things can change a lot in three years.

Here's an update for you.

Back in September, 2014 they got new management that is making some positive changes. For CFIs, the biggest things are the salary pay structure that ranges from ~$39-$42K/yr with pretty good benefits, new-hire bonus, and free housing for new-hires.

They are also the training provider for Central Washington University's Bachelor of Aviation Science program. Although the transition into the program did not go well, things are looking up. I'd definitely give them a serious look.

Let me know if you want more details, and I'll be happy to help!

Any new info from you or anyone else? The salary seems to be ramping up in Redding, and you get 90 days of free housing to help you move out there or a $1,500 relocation check. They will help you gain additional ratings. I talked to the recruiter very recently and he said the student to instructor ratio is high, CFIs are over worked. He didn't give me specific numbers though, I didn't push for them after I asked once. In an interview I will. He did say they have 60 more Chinese students coming this fall and are fairly desperate for CFIs by the way he made it sound. Another number that was thrown out was that they are capable of handling 180 contracted students in Redding. He claimed the off airport apartments were "really nice."

I'm trying to decide if moving to Redding is worth it for me. I'd love the outdoor recreation in the area I think, but the lack of town culture and grungy central valley poverty otherwise might be tough... and girls? what are girls? That is if I have much free time anyways. Might be a good place to keep your head down, live cheap, fish and camp a little bit, work through the hours, and pay off some flying debts.

They are also looking for CFIs in Everett, Washington according to the website. That sounds pretty nice to me. Is that more competitive? I didn't see any phone numbers to contact Washington directly. How does it go teaching primary students in Washington in the winter?
