I am surprised at how much military/civilian chest-thumping is in this thread. I have heard directly from plenty of AF Academy grads/coworkers that say that the place is overrated. I know that ERAU is overrated....I know, part of my skoolin' was there!

Neither are necessarily the premier educational institution with flight training.

I will second Zapata's statement. Along with saying an aviation degree is not worth the paper it is written on. UND is overrated as well...I did all my drinking there.

Western Michigan, Get you flying done and get a decent business degree also. Wish someone told me that before I went. Aviation Flight Science degree doesn't leave you with many options when you graduate and cant find a flying job....

Somebody can do that at most any university with an aviation program; I know more than one Purdue Flight student who was double-majoring in Management/Finance/Accounting through the Krannert School of Management.

Wish I had done that or at least done the Krannert management minor - would have accomplished all of my MBA prerequisites...

Im going to add here again

I recently took a campus tour at ERAU Prescott. I was looking at either the BA degree with a flight minor or a Engineering Degree with the same minor. The admissions folks i spoke with were very nice and excited at how much research i had done and how far i was in my current educational track while being on Active Duty with the AF.

Had a great tour and enjoyed my time, things went south when i met with the Head of the buisness dept. I was told that my ERAU Worldwide Degree was useless and that Prescott is the only ERAU Campus that has the proper accrediations and that they are basically better than Worldwide and Daytona. This was just the start as she proceded to tell me that as much as she values my service to my country and that my job(airfield management) does have some merit but i would have to be retrained from the begining because the military doesnt use the same standards as the rest of the world.

After leaving her office My wife and I both felt that we were not wanted at HER univeristy. Even though my schooling would have been payed for I WILL NOT be attending an ERAU Campus to further my education.

Rest assured, an education from ERAU is ALL complete and utter crap. ERAU cares about one thing and one thing only: your money and how much of it they can abscond with.

An aviation degree from ERAU is garbage.

See i totally agree in that all they want is your money but this lady made it seem as if i was not good enough for her univeristy and that she didnt want me there, But it is what it is. Thats why i have other school that fit me better all ready selected to look at.

It was more shocking then anything i guess. They have had such a great reputation for years and after my visit im not sure how or why. I will continue to pursue my degree with them via their worldwide program as its free and keeps the AF Folks happy and content. Outside of that will not be recomending them for anything.
