I'm still looking and waiting but starting January I'll probably go to Aviator, they really left an impression and more importantly I did see myself training and living there for the time required. They have a real good placement rate and good CFI movement. Senior instructors there started training only around May. They've got an agreement I with Colgan and a lot go there so they could get out of CFIing earlier. Others who stay longer for that 1000 hours are going to XJ, Skywest and others. One other thing about Aviator is that they don't require you to do office jobs while waiting for a CFI spot to open like ATP requires you to answer phones at Jacksonville. As soon as you get your rating and do the few hours of ride along with a student/cfi you get your 1st student.

Your the guy that was talking all the bs about ATP instructors and your not even a properly rated pilot to even make those comments. You have no experience whatsoever with ATP, did you get kicked out or something? Do you even have your PVT SE? Just curious.

Like I said before - the 00.01% of ATPs failures did it to themselves. I hate to presume / assume what their problem is.

However, I know this basic fact of life: those who help themselves get help. IF you are a motivated, studious, and want to pass you will. If you make the extra effort - other will notice and will help you if they can...

I'm just passing on what I've heard from real ATP students dude and yes I am a private pilot with about 100 hours. Settle down, I don't have anything against ATP they're still one of the better schools.

I have nothing against you. I just wondered where you got your info from that we just "sit in the right seat on long XCs to build time." I didn't come from a former student, because they would know that is not what happens. I am not mad, just curious. Good luck at AB.

And there lies the contridiction. Pilots dont want to investigate a school where the folks that answer the ph9nes arent pilots. They want to hear from real pilots inn the programs, not paid non pilots reading from a brochere. But pilots dont want to take the time to work the phone because they complain its not flying. So which way do you want it. ither work the phones and give your personal experience or stop complaing that the call takers arent qulified to give you advise. Pilots want their cake and eat it to

Oh come on, how else do you guys go from Washington to Florida in a few days? I'm just in favor of doing many short flights with many takeoffs and landings. Now you can argue that you get flight experience all over the country but at that stage 100-300 hours you still need to be learning and doing many practice approaches and other types of flying rather than flying 2 hour flights where you just sit there and enjoy the scenery. I understand that ATP CFIs don't do as much of this but that is the basis of ATPs training for students.

Both ATP and Ari Ben use the FAR loophole to have two guys log PIC multi at the same time. It's commonplace in the industry. At Ari, you can pay an extra $20/hr and get all sole manipulator time while some other guy pays $20/hr less to log all the safety pilot time with you.

If I was an interviewer, I'd take a dim view on this sort of timebuilding.

I had a student come in from AriBen for one of our programs. He was nervous about reducing the throttle below 1100 rpm while taxiing. I asked him why he was nervous about it and apparently he had several engines shutdown by themselves while taxiing when he brought the throttle below 1000. And he had several in-flight engine problems as well. This is second hand information so I’ll leave it up to you to decide if AriBen is a good choice or not.

I don't get it...With all the information out there on this forum, flightinfo, and even the expressjet pilot forum about how good a deal ATP is some out there don't want to accept the facts...

Put your $$$ down and in 90 days walk out with your ratings and start a new career / life as a pilot...I read earlier about a guy that didn't know the difference between a rudder and a yoke before he went to ATP. In 90 days he did and had every rating he'll need to get a job as a CFI then regional FO...
