Does this hold water for ME PIC?
Was reading the regs to answer another question I had and came across this
(4) A student pilot may log pilot-in-command time only when the student pilot—
(i) Is the sole occupant of the aircraft or is performing the duties of pilot of command of an airship requiring more than one pilot flight crewmember;
(ii) Has a solo flight endorsement as required under §61.87 of this part; and
(iii) Is undergoing training for a pilot certificate or rating.
So using this as a reference could one not log all the time training for the ME certificate as PIC? iii states that it can be PIC while training for a certificate or rating.
Just wondering what you all think

Only if you were endorsed for solo in the plane, which is probably unlikely considering the school would have to carry insurance for it. You can imagine the insurance rates on letting a ten hour multi student take a multi up solo.

The part 141 program I went through for commercial multi required us to do a .5 hour solo in the seminole before we could complete the program and take our checkride. I have a multi-engine solo endorsement in my logbook and .5 multi PIC before I got my rating. The pattern was pretty empty that day so I got four landings solo.

As previously stated, you cannot use the time flown before you are rated in a multiengine airplane as multiengine PIC per se until you are rated for multiengine airplanes. But you can certainly log it in your ME total column starting from the first hour.

Second. Look at the "and." You even bolded it. So, if you are a student pilot and you're the sole occupant of the airplane and you have the student pilot solo endorsement and you are undergoing training, then you can log the time as PIC under that reg.
