737 Type and ATP Combined
Here's a tip for you all that I was unaware of until recently: I went to HPA for my 737 type. There was a guy there in my class who showed up with a multi engine commercial instrument ticket. When he left, he had a 737 type rating AND a multi engine ATP. The ATP was earned in conjunction with the type. He want through the exact same training as I did and for the exact same cost. And, to top it off, he was a military guy with the post 9-11 GI bill so the government picked up 100 % of the tab! Pretty good deal!
So, my point is.....if you don't yet have your ATP and you are interested in flying for SWA (or another 737 equiped airline), go straight to HPA and come out with both the ATP and the type, for only the price of the type rating. A potential savings of 2-3K! Good luck!

Yes, I did the same thing with my ATP and 737 type. It's a great deal for regional FOs who haven't upgraded or received their ATP yet. Another good point is that HPA deals with the WIA grants all the time and can help you get the training paid for through WIA if you find yourself furloughed.

What is WIA??? Workforce Investment Act, designed to help you get retrained if you become furloughed. How to find it???? You can find out through HPA or from your local unemployment office. Keep in mind that not all unemployment offices know about it, don't stop looking within your state. And if one office denies you, try another U- office. If your furloughed, get on state assistance and it will streamline the whole process.

Not sure but I would imagine so, as long as you meet the minimum experience requirments. I would definately ask the school that you choose before you commit though. HPA was great about it and knew exactly how to handle the paperwork. (both the paperwork for the ATP/Type and the GI Bill). Just to be clear, I am not affiliated with HPA in any way whatsoever. I did however get my type from them and would highly recommend.
