I think there's a fuel surcharge of like $5 for the summer (or whenever fuel drops again), but yeah, still a decent deal.

On that note if you qualify for VA benefits and enroll in Palm Beach State flying will be 100% paid for by the VA, from what I understand there are only a few schools where this happens.

You have to enroll on their AA degree for Aeronautical Science. You can choose Helo or Fixed wing, best deal I've seen. You can go from nothing to Multi Engine Instructor in less than 2 years, this can cost you up to $100k. If you choose Helo, the training can cost up to $120k, they even have Night Vision Googles training.

No VA benefits here.

With the upcoming pilot shortage I wish they would allow you to get get pell grants and federal stafford loans to pay for flight training with the condition that you're also enrolled in a college. One can dream right?

Check out Flight schools in the Rockey Mountain Region. It makes a big difference operating a Cessna at 10,000ft verse 3000 ft with respect to fuel savings. You will end up paying around $10-20 less per flight hour for a single engine and around $30-50 an hour for a twin. Look into different schools and compare, you will find out.
