Trust me, I would've gotten out of this a long time ago when I realized how much it costs. I'd be willing to bet that I have learned or I am going to learn a lot more than most people out there.
Get over the head start BS...You're being taken for a ride...A life long ride that you don't yet realize. Even Rommel knew the war was lost after he met SAS commandos captured in the months before the D-Day landings. Look reality in the face and accept that you'll have gotten absolutely nothing for the money you spent in an aero science degree.

"but this same grad will be by far a better F/O than most and after 10 years as a Capt sustantially better than the other Capt. It's a fact and unless you went there and took advantage of their program you have no grounds to argue"

I went there and that's the dumbest darn thing I've ever heard.

Ignorance is bliss....

Avoid Riddle, attend large university with lots of the opposite sex and a good sports program so you'll have someone to cheer for on Saturday. Don't take any aviation related courses (learn that crap at the FBO).
I went to ERAU and never felt like I had any sort of advantage over my peers at my previous airlines.

You will regret it if you do not have a normal college experience. It's not any fun to be around a bunch of aviation nerds for four years.

I had a roommate at Riddle my last semseter there that believed the hype. He was fully convinced that he would be on at United in less than 3 yrs, becuase of Riddle, so he needed to hurry and finish his associates degree.

Son, you're in for a rude awakening when you realize you wasted years and $$$ on an aero science degree. Its not worth the amount you're spending.

Aero Science is a fantasy degree....I feel bad calling it a degree.

So according to you, all I should've done was spend my time in a library doing nothing but reading books and teaching myself everything while flying at an FBO. No degree, but all the flying knowledge I could ask for with no guidance from people who have been through it. This does not make sense either because I could've done the same if I wanted to be a doctor and go to school for 8 years getting an MD. Same goes for being a lawyer. Come to think of it, all degrees are like that. If I wanted to major in business, why not spend countless hours in a library reading books? There was an awesome movie on stuff just like this called, Catch Me If You Can. Mr. Abagnale did just that. All he did was spend his time watching movies and reading books on how to become the people that made the most money ie. pilot, lawyer, doctor. So technically, the way I see it with what you said in the above statement, all degrees are worthless if you can pick up books and learn everything on your own. All in all, according to LAFF, all you doctors and lawyers that are in law or med. school, get out while you still can before you spend way too much time and money on things that are "fantasy degrees."

One thing I don't see a lot about is networking. In a competitive field it's who you know and who recommends you that gets you the job over another guy with the same experience and (any) degree. Seems like going to one of these aviation programs would get you a good number of future referrers. I'm the only one I know in my graduating EE class with any flying hours ...

Only problem is what do you do with a degree from a place that will take anyone with enough money to pay for it if you can't fly for some reason

Can't you essentially say the same about any degree though? Someone has been flying with the same airline for 10-20 years and they are now in the 30's-40's. Something happens and their medical gets pulled. Now what? It doesn't matter what your degree is in now (because you haven't had ANY job experience outside of flying for 20 years) because businesses will be looking for the young college graduates who did internships and thus have some job experience. Not a 30-40 year old pilot with the same degree as the newly minted college graduate.
